So if I make a model, can it generate the WCF service contracts and the proxy service automatically? How would that work?

This sounds great. I can hardly wait. It is a major pain with SL to build the service interface and do all the translation from the contract objects to the ViewModel objects.

For me, this would be a huge time-saver and a real plus to sell my boss on Eco. Probably 3/4 of my code is done just to accomplish the persistence part of the app.

The Silverlight strategy is to reform the PersistenceMapperClient to use WCF as transport mechanism.

This way a Silverlight app will be like any other eco application talking to an eco-server.

Jonas is working on that part but we are not done yet.

WECPOF will initially target WPF, but the strategies are UI agnostict

Does this Beta version of Eco 6 already include anything for WCF and Silverlight? And what are you planning for this?

What I would love to see is starting with the Model and the ViewModel have Eco generate the WCF service as well as the model and viewmodel code. Is that what you are looking at doing? How do you envision doing this WCF/SL stuff?

after your blog entry I slowly begin to understand.
WECPOF strange name but sounds very interresting. Will it only work for WPF?
Looking forward to see the first prototype.

Roadmap you say...

What we will be doing is to continue with these things:

WCF - PMapping using WCF
Silverlight - Now when we are in ECO6 we will push this harder
WECPOF - ECO + WPF prototyping and application framework ; action-definitions building menus, viewmodels defining search- and document dialogs
Platform systems - Solutions that are built (with ECO) to be extended

...but we are user driven... If you have needs you should tell us (and yes you might need to pay us)...

It would be great to have a place where we can see what and when may come in the future versions of ECO. I hope that CO will remember to update it frequently too ;).
